There is one Structured Interview training course scheduled for December 2022.
Structured interview training: Dates in December 2022
Structured Interview training is scheduled for:
- 12th December 2022 - various forces
Overview
Psychological surveillance and structured interview training is part of the psychological support programme launched by Oscar Kilo, the National Police Wellbeing Service (NPWS).
It was designed to help police forces improve the mental health support offered to officers and staff when undertaking structured psychological interviews and preparing reports for employees and management.
Is this course for me?
Structured interview training covers the following areas:
-
recognising the need for psychological surveillance for high risk roles
-
explaining the results of a screening report
-
undertaking a structured interview
-
recording the results of an initial and follow-up structured interview
-
demonstrating rational decision making
The training will provide the skills to undertake the interventions in your force or by exception and only in agreement with your force as part of mutual aid.
In order to successfully complete the training, delegates must attend for the full duration of the course.
There will obviously be some occasions when delegates have to leave the training early because of an emergency situation arising during the course.
In these circumstances, we will require the delegate to attend a future course to complete the training.
This is a one-day training course.
These courses regularly take place throughout the year and dates will be supplied directly to forces who have adopted this training.
How to access this training
To be considered for one of these courses, you must firstly contact your force wellbeing lead who may put your name forward. Please note we are unable to accept individual applications for this course.
What previous delegates are saying about this course
It was informative, a great way to change practice and a proactive way for results and reports.
Self assessment has been useful to avoid burnout and compassion fatigue. We can support others in a different way to counselling.
The use of the online screening process and the report produced was very helpful to see and clearly, it has a lot of applications clinically and for research.
