Family at work days

Policing is an interesting and diverse occupation, and it is no surprise that the public are fascinated by how the police operates.

By showcasing the work of the police to police families, we deepen the connection and understanding between us and the people who know us best. Inviting families into force to see policing first hand can be a real benefit.

Top tips for implementation

Check out the tips below on how to implement attestation events.

Activities

  • Identify a number of activities or locations across the force where it would be suitable to invite a small number of family members in for a couple of hours and develop a programme.
  • What are the things that would be of interest?
  • A Headquarters tour may also be a possibility.
  • The more effort put into the planning the greater the experience for families will be.

Logistics

  • Gain all necessary sign offs and approvals.
  • Need to ensure that there are no data breaches so their experience needs to be mindful of GDPR
  • Family members will need to be accompanied at all times by their officer or staff member
  • Undertake a risk assessment
  • Give consideration to how you will advertise the programme to your family members.
