Oscar Kilo has partnered with Dementia UK to provide free, confidential access to specialist dementia support for police officers and staff who are living with dementia or caring for a loved one with the condition.

As part of our support for police families, Police officers and staff who are living with dementia, or supporting a loved one with the condition, can now access free specialist support through a new partnership between the National Police Wellbeing Service and Dementia UK.

Caring for someone with dementia can be rewarding, but it can also bring emotional, practical and financial challenges. For some members of the police workforce, they may also be navigating their own dementia diagnosis. Whatever your situation, support is available.

Through the Oscar Kilo website, police officers and staff can book a free, confidential one-to-one appointment with a Dementia UK Admiral Nurse. These virtual appointments offer expert guidance, emotional support and practical advice tailored to your individual circumstances.

What is an Admiral Nurse?

Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses who support people living with dementia and the families, friends and carers who support them. They understand the complex challenges dementia can bring and can provide expert advice at every stage of the journey.

Whether you have recently received a diagnosis, are caring for a loved one, or are facing new challenges as dementia progresses, an Admiral Nurse can help.

How can they help?

During a confidential 45-minute appointment, an Admiral Nurse can provide advice and support on topics such as:

  • Understanding a dementia diagnosis
  • Practical tips for caring for someone with dementia
  • Managing feelings of loss, stress, anxiety or guilt
  • Coping with changing relationships
  • Planning for the future
  • Accessing additional support and services

As dementia specialists, Admiral Nurses support the whole family, helping people feel better informed, more confident and less alone.

Who can access the service?

The service is available to members of the police workforce who:

  • Are living with dementia themselves, or
  • Are caring for, supporting or concerned about someone with dementia

Appointments are free and confidential and can be accessed directly through the Oscar Kilo website. No force referral is required.

Flexible appointments to suit you

Appointments last 45 minutes and can be delivered by video call or telephone, depending on your preference.

Clinic appointments are currently scheduled at 12pm, 2pm and 3pm every Tuesday and Thursday.
