Oscar Kilo Conference and Awards 2026 : Theme and objectives

This page provides and overview of the 'From strategy to reality' conference theme, what sits behind it and what we want delegates to take away from the two days.

From strategy to reality

This year’s conference theme, 'From strategy to reality', builds on last year’s theme 'connecting the dots' and focuses on what happens next: how national strategy, evidence, investment and wellbeing support are translated into meaningful change for forces and, ultimately, for individual officers and staff.

The programme has been deliberately structured as a journey, moving from the wider reform and national picture through to local delivery, prevention, recovery, lived experience and the practical support available to the workforce.

At the heart of the conference is a simple question: what does this mean in reality, and what needs to happen next?

Across the two days, we will explore how wellbeing can be embedded as part of leadership, culture and operational effectiveness; how greater national consistency can sit alongside effective local delivery; and how insight, evidence and partnership can be used to improve the experience of people working across

What we want delegates to take away

By the end of the conference, we want delegates to leave with:

  • a clearer understanding of how national strategy connects to local delivery and individual impact;
  • greater confidence in applying national frameworks, products and evidence within their own force;
  • a stronger sense of their role in embedding wellbeing into leadership, culture and day-to-day policing;
  • practical ideas they can take back and use locally;
  • stronger connections with peers and partners across policing;
  • and a clear opportunity to shape future NPWS support through the insight and experience they bring to the conference.
