NHS: MindEd toolkit

Health Education England e-learning for healthcare, has worked with MindEd to develop an communications toolkit to encourage professionals to utilise the MindEd elearning programme.

This toolkit has been designed to help healthcare professionals, teachers, carers, community and support workers and blue light emergency services staff to raise greater awareness of the sessions and call on more professionals to improve their knowledge and confidence in tackling mental ill health in children, young people, adults, older people and people of all ages with learning disability.

The empty chair

Detective Sergeant Brad Greenstreet is an officer in the New Zealand police who has a strong interest in mental health and wellbeing in law enforcement. He has created a series of videos entitled ‘The Empty Chair’ after experiencing depression himself in 2017.

The videos feature a number of officers sharing their own stories about mental health and were used in a campaign within his local force to raise awareness.

Online women’s health programme

The Police Treatment Centres (PTC) online women’s health programme provides officers with access to fitness, nutrition, and wellbeing advice from a multidisciplinary team of professionals with expertise in women’s health.

Officers wishing to access the online service will receive an initial dual assessment with women’s health-trained fitness and physiotherapy professionals; followed by a detailed treatment plan including signposting to appropriate services or resources.

The team are rehabilitation specialists with a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the demands of the policing role. The team can support women to remain in their role or facilitate a confident return to work, as well as enjoying their home life and hobbies.
